Pippali Rasayana (Pippali Rasayana)
A traditional rejuvenating paste of long pepper, ghee, and honey designed to support respiratory health and immunity during the winter months.
Pippali Rasayana is a classical rejuvenating preparation that utilizes the unique heating and scraping properties of long pepper (Pippali) combined with the unctuous, nourishing qualities of ghee and honey. This formulation is traditionally employed during the colder months of Hemant and Shishir to support the respiratory system and bolster immunity. By balancing the cold, damp qualities of winter, this paste serves as a potent tonic for those experiencing seasonal stagnation. The preparation follows a traditional 'increasing and decreasing' dose protocol, allowing the body to gradually acclimate to the potent, pungent qualities of the Pippali. It is considered a premier Rasayana for the respiratory tract, helping to clear excess Kapha while providing the necessary warmth to pacify Vata during the transition into the colder season.

Ingredients
- Pippali (Long Pepper) — 10 fruits
- Ghee (Clarified Butter) — 2 tbsp
- Raw Honey — 2 tbsp
Method
- 1. Finely powder the dried Pippali fruits. (Tip: Use a mortar and pestle for the best texture.)
- 2. In a small pan, gently warm the ghee over low heat. (Tip: Do not let the ghee smoke; keep it at a gentle melt.)
- 3. Add the Pippali powder to the ghee and sauté for 2-3 minutes until fragrant. (Tip: This helps release the medicinal properties of the spice into the fat.)
- 4. Remove from heat and allow the mixture to cool until it is just warm to the touch (below 40°C). (Tip: Crucial for maintaining the integrity of the honey.)
- 5. Stir in the raw honey until a smooth, thick paste is formed. (Tip: Store in a clean glass jar in a cool, dark place.)
